We have update to Gnome 2.30.
Now You can install GhostBSD by terminal commands and a list with pc-sysinstall. The partition Supported to install GhostBSD are UFS, UFS+S (plus soft updates7), UFS+J (plus journaling8), ZFS, and SWAP.
A how to install is in the desktop.
With GhostBSD in your hard drive you have Linux-f10 compatibility that mean you can install Linux apps and Linux flash. Cups ready to use. Compiz install and ready to be use.
This Is the first installable version. Not so user friendly. But I have promised
something. The last month All was going wrong and I decide to go with pc-sysinstall. Now for the next 6 mount I gonna work on a graphic installer for 2.0.
GhostBSD amd64 is coming for next week
Thanks for you support.
All this From a normal FreeBSD Gnome user. All this hard work and all the time I pass to research, ask, read and learn by myself is for you guys!!!

ok solved, I’ve killed the ever unuseful compiz with “killall compiz”. Now I’m in gnome session and I’m gonna try to install. Thx
christian m Its not a graphical installer. its command in the terminal.
doesnt work for me. I’m trying to install it on my acer aspire one but still experiencing issues. Graphical installer try to start itself but gets no success because X o Gnome session falls in infinite loop so it’s impossibile to install. I have installed pcbsd on my netbook without any problems. How can I fix this?
Thx

After hitting ctrl+alt+f2 what is the username/password we should enter?
root or liveuser and no password is reacquired. to go back is ctrl+alt+f9.
Add to that no-go list a Pentium 4 3.0 ghz Desktop with 2gigs ram and an ATI X1650 video card. The boot process stopped with the error message “unable to load kernel”. BTW, 3 of the 4 computers I tried used ATI. The 4th uses an Intel series mobile 4. The closest I got to desktop was with the Lenovo G530 with the Intel series mobile 4 video card but the screen would just flicker.
After hitting ctrl+alt+f2 what is the username/password we should enter? Also, what is the command to then get to Desktop?
Thanks, Eric.
Yes it can. I’m not understanding what mean disable DMA .
I haven been able to install. Need to have DMA disabled when the system is installed. Could that be an option when you build the installer?
A lot of users have report problem with a white screen. that’s come from compiz. Most of the card are ati. If you want to see the desktop you have to kill compiz. ctrl+alt+f2 login the shell and
killall compiz
I have report he have to kill compiz to go in the desktop.
compiz start but if you graphic card if not a enough. that can be the problem.
As user since 5.4. Also PC-BSD.
Weird this is something it never append to me. have you already use FreeBSD in past.
With ACPI enabled, keeps getting Error “timecounter TSC must not be in use when changing frequencies; change denied”. No gnome.
Without ACPI, like Trespasser said boot up process at different stages – ended up uo a white screen with arrow pointer or clock pointer.
can i have more info email me please.

Same problem. I tried it on a Sony S360 laptop (1.7 ghz Pentium M), a Lenovo G530 laptop (2.0 dual core), and a quad-core AMD Desktop, but could not reach Gnome Desktop. Each would stop boot up process at different stages. Disappointed, as well.
Thank you Eric for your hard work and perseverance. Sorry, no success with 3 installs: on Compaq Presario Desktop(Pentium 486), on Dell D610 Notebook and HP Pavilion Desktop(i5). Very disappointed.
Any wireless support for Intel ipw2200?
Good luck with your efforts.
Thanks.
Later
