About GhostBSD
GhostBSD is an advanced operating system for x86 compatible (including Pentium® and Athlon™), amd64 compatible (including Opteron™, Athlon™ 64, and EM64T) architectures. It is derived from FreeBSD which is derived from BSD, the version of UNIX® developed at the University of California, Berkeley.
GhostBSD is developed and maintained by a small group of developers.
With cutting edge features, GhostBSD is a Gnome desktop distribution in the form of a live CD and DVD – it can also be installed on your HDD.
Cutting edge features
GhostBSD offers the same advanced networking, performance, security and compatibility features of FreeBSD; which are still missing in other operating systems, even some of the best commercial ones.
GhostBSD can run a huge number of applications
With over 20,000 ported libraries and applications, GhostBSD supports the same FreeBSD applications for desktop, server, appliance, and embedded environments.
GhostBSD is free
GhostBSD is available free of charge and comes with full source code. If you would like to try it for your self you can download a copy from here.
Contributing to GhostBSD
It is easy to contribute to GhostBSD. All you need to do is find a part of GhostBSD which you think could be improved and make those changes (carefully and cleanly) and submit them back to the Project by sending them to a GhostBSD Team member, if you know one.
This could be anything from documentation to artwork or source code. Even if you are not a programmer, there are other ways to contribute to GhostBSD. The GhostBSD Donation is a non-profit organization. Please contact us for more information.
