How to locale my MATE to german language

Postby Nejat » Sat Oct 03, 2015 10:52 am

Hello,

I can type all my german keys verry well for example in the terminal and in all other applications such as libere office.
But I could not find out how to change the menu names in MATE task bar and in all other applications as well to german.
Everything appears in english language.
For me personally it is no problem, but I want to add local users for example for my mum and dad.
They don't speak english :-)

I searched in google but could not find a solution for Ghost BSD.
So can anybody help us?

Infos:
Ghost BSD 10.1
Mate 1.10.2

Best regards
Nejat

The best place to change that setting is in /usr/local/etc/gdm/locale.conf

Code: Select all
LANG="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_CTYPE="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="de_DE.UTF-8"

In the terminal locale -a give you all the otion you can use.
ericbsd@eric /etc> locale -a
C
POSIX
