What you mean with "run on BSD" ? And who are "they" ?

I mean the mate developers. I have not seen a BSD distribution run gnome 3. I thought it may have been a problem with GTK 3 compatibility with BSD operating systems. Feel free to correct me, If I am wrong.

P.S. I love your distro and I think its the easiest way for beginner like my self to try a FreeBSD based OS with out getting lost in the command line.

There is no Mate developers here, this is not Mate forum. This is FreeBSD + Mate, Eric "port" Mate and do some modifications so we all can enjoy it.
And as you know Mate already run on GhostBSD and I guess it will keep running for long.

For your Info GTK3 is in ports and fully functional. Gnome 3 have to mush linuxism in and at make it are to make it fully functional. Mate 1.8 should not that hard to port if they stay in the same direction of 1.6.
