Ghost 4.0rc2, some returns

Postby FredBezies » Tue Aug 26, 2014 10:59 am

I download GhostBSD 4.0rc2 ISO, installed it in a VirtualBox, and here are my returns.

  • There is no network manager tool available. I've done a dhclient em0 as root to get network access
  • Keyboard layout choice is not kept between installation steps
  • freebsd-upgrade fetch is ok.
  • Cannot login anymore if I do a pkg update and pkg upgrade as root

Hope it helps a little :)

More infos : got this in /var/log/gdm/:0-slave.log.1

Code: Select all
gdm-session-worker[1444]: gkr-pam: no password available for user

Here is pkg upgrade list. Which one is breaking gdm password inputbox ?

What I noticed so far after installing 4.0RC2 are :

Some strange Login Issues. It may take 2 times to log on.
No networking. IFCONFIG only returns the Loopback address and no other IP address. This is under Virtual Box and VMWare.

Well let's see if others are having issues. I will try on another machine running an older version of VMWare and see what happens.

i386 version does not have Networking active. I tried on 3 different products and none worked with 4RC2. My login issue was only under one VM so that was an abnormality so nothing to worry about there. I tried the 64bit version and Networking is functioning properly there.

Oh there is one issue outstanding for me that I wanted to see if it would be fixed for RC2. That is Virtual Box does not run under V4RC1 for i386. I am not by the PC that has Virtual Box installed but it errors when you try and run it. If you don't have a i386 PC around running V4RC1 I can get the errors and post them here.
